The best part of A Year of Sessions?

I love seeing how much she has changed each month...

...even though it always seems too quickly.

Irony

Did you know?

Studies say this is the most documented and photographed generation in history.

Think about that.... In the History of the World, no one has been photographed more than you child.

Whoa.

With cameras being so accessible now they are on most cell phones, people find any excuse to take a photograph and share it whether it be on a social network or through email or text.  It is a very cool time where in one minute you can take a photograph and send it to a relative or friend on the other side of the world instead of weeks if not months it used to take by sending items by post.  And that is pretty amazing.

BUT  ( and this is a big one).

What happens when that technology fails?

 It could happen...it does happen.

When your phone suddenly stops working, or your hard drive fails.

What is the number one thing that people want saved?    Their pictures.

Because no matter how fantastic and wonderful the digital world is....it is designed to fail.

Networks, computers, phones, even the cards in your camera.  In time they all fail.  and in time they all get replaced with the next new thing.

Bigger, Better, Faster.

When it does, would you have any photos of your children?

Not just photos of your children, but photos of your parents with your children......... of you with your children....

If you child was born in the last 5 years,  are there any physical photographs of him?  There are hundreds on your phone, computer, and your social media, but how many out of those hundreds of photos are in a photo album you can sit down with them and look through? or on your wall that they see every day?

This generation is the most photographed and documented generation in the history of the world.

But in 50 years how sad will it be when they have nothing to show for it.  They have had thousands of photos taken in their lives, but nothing to look back on or share with their children or grandchildren.

Their childhood will just disappear.

Please.

Please don't let those photos sit in your technology forever.  Go print them.

P.S.  There has been studies that children that have photos of themselves in their home that they see every day boosts their self -esteem.  It shows your child that they are a important part of the family.  It is suggested to have a family photo next to their bed, as that shows the child that he is meaningful connected to the others in the photo and it will be the first thing they see when they awake up and the last thing they see before they sleep.  ~ The more you know...  ding

P.P.S.  I have a 13 year old son as when he was a baby I made him a photo scrapbook of his first year.  At least once every few months he takes it out and looks at it.
