Meet Claude & Summer.
They are 2 of a group of 5 youth that were nominated for the Northern Youth Role Model Campaign made possible by the Northern Health Communities Partnership.
I was very excited when I was asked to photograph these youth by the NHCP. It's always refreshing to photograph out of my genre every now and then, and having never travelled to the northern communities of Sandy Bay and Pelican Narrows, I was happy to travel somewhere new.
For the Northern Youth Role Model Campaign, all 5 youth were given $1000 for a community development project of their choice for their communities. In addition, they will be going on tour of the north and providing a leadership workshop to other youth this fall/winter.
Claude will be organizing a community wide clean-up for his community of Sandy Bay.
Summer will be creating a SADD chapter in her community of Pelican Narrows.
Two fantastic ideas from two pretty amazing young people.
Claude & Summer, it was my pleasure meeting you and your families as well as photographing you for this campaign. You are perfect role models for the youth in your communities and for all youth (and adults!) of Northern Saskatchewan as a whole. I am sure you will continue to thrive and wish you all the best in the future!
